3 buildings (and composition)

3 buildings

i was busy composing my life. the dissonance of the last bit of music — the secret crushes, the knowing looks, the anticipation, the fantasies, and the realities — were all playing at the same time and with this head full of music (why does ‘composition-compose-composing’ lead you to believe it was music that was playing and not some grand work of visual art that was taking shape? other than beginning the metaphor in the first sentence there really isn’t any reason why a visual image can’t be considered a bit of music,) i plotted my escape.  all of it ill-formed, tinted by fear, the possibilities of contrast, the old pushed up tight against the new, escape essential, fight or flee with fleeing seemingly the easiest. it must have underlined my audition, bolstered it, the hunger, the desire, to escape (just like running from a fire down the iron stairs floating alongside an old brick building in downtown chicago in the month of _____ of 1973.)
