palms (and -blocks)

every year i donate a work of visual art — well, if not ‘art’, at least a hand-made craft project–i’d never assign the word ‘artist’ to myself–to a charity silent auction.

the deadline for submissions is looming…and i find myself blocked…i dug out some old works, some a few months old, others are decades old, just for the inspiration, but no little spark got lit and here i sit struggling with metaphors (campfires, etc.)

photography is one thing, but building a work eludes me sometimes. and even though i work best in collage utilizing a variety of media, i usually have some thought or goal to work toward, but not yet. i know the best way to find it is to do it until it appears–until the question the blank canvas asks is answered. i’ll keep you posted on my progress…(ellipsis intentional.)
