clouds x 2 (one for distance, the other for reading)

a little over three years ago, i started this blog (called “cultivar” at the time) and thought that i’d dedicate its pages to subjects that now only appear fleetingly — or possibly all of the time — depending upon your interpretation of the subjects i’ve chosen to examine, ignore, or otherwise put under the lens of my bifocals (progressive though they may be.)

i don’t feel like i’ve strayed too far from my original intent, although a purist might find my wanderings obtuse, but my vision remains the same (sitting here typing and looking at the two different photos of the same cloud, a cloud that floated across my field of vision yesterday afternoon as i was walking joey up the hill and had reached the crest, turning to begin our descent. the original photo included a falling-away landscape down to the ocean, but it was the cloud that appealed the most to me so i eliminated the unnecessary information–it would have only befuddled this conversation i’m having with you–although i’ve not let you get a word in–and the results are the two separate photographs you see here: manipulated, cropped, saturated.)

it may not be clear to you; the divergent paths, the memory (lanes), the obsessions, the upside down view of the same object, or even now, two photographs that remind me of painting and sculpture and dancing and words written on a page, but it remains, for me, true to my original intent.

i’ll wait for you at the next bend in the road.
