cymbidium and other ‘um’ words

i promise you it’s not where i’m going today (drum). although there’s (thrum) a slight chance (like precipitation–yes, a ‘shun’ word, but you try to sustain this nonsense) of bunkum. mmm-hmm (delivered with a knowing wink-um.)

DSC02400a random search was conducted and it was discovered that there are at least 718 words ending in ‘um’. which indicates to me that some people have either entirely too much time on their hands or the best job ever. you decide.

i did learn that ‘carpogonium’ is the egg-bearing portion of the female reproductive organ of some red algae. which. obvsly is tmi. (i do hope to impress my bio-science friends at some point in my life with this piece of information, even if i use it as an adjective: carpogonial.)  um, yes.

in other news, our cymbidium garden is beginning its winter bloom and it will be spectacular this year. more to come as it unfolds.
