the ocean & the sky (a parable of compatibility)

at noon, it is quite possible that it was just before, the ocean & the sky became one in a marriage ceremony (not state-sponsored) officiated by the sun

even if you squinted (i tried) the line between water & sky was imperceptible.  you could say, “just there, it’s an inch above the edge of the photograph,” but you would be wrong.

the sky on the other hand would have none of the ocean’s prevarication, the distinction between ether & moisture quite apparent.

i thought a touch of land at the bottom of the frame might give the viewer a chance to measure where the horizon lay, but this too was impossibly subtle & rife with pitfalls, but i think we may be closer to saying, “there!”

but after careful consideration, i decided it did not matter if i could discern the two or if their union was so complete they had become as one.
